IKAHO ONSEN RESORT
If you look into MANNYOSHU, the oldest anthology of Japanese poems,
you can find that “Ikaho” was used as the subject of 9 poems telling
Ikaho Onsen Hot Spring Resort has been thus beloved by many Japanese people since ancient days.
Back in warlike ages, Ikaho Onsen healed a lot of Samurai
warriors who got tired with battles.
At the end of Edo Period, Ikaho was known as one of the three top resorts along with Nikko and Hakone.
In Meiji and in Taisho Period many writers and artists visited Ikaho Onsen resort for their creative activities.
The symbolic structures of Ikaho Onsen resort are stone steps, which were built in 1576.
Our Ryokan "Fukuich" is located just on the top of the stone steps area and has been piling up tradition in more than 400.
Over one million Japanese tourists visit Ikaho Onsen every year today.
Surprisingly, this famous Onsen resort is not so much known by the tourists from overseas.

Ikaho Onsen offers two different types of Onsen water, Kogane-no-yu and Shirogane-no-yu.
Originally, Ikaho only had Kogane-no-yu Onsen, which is known for its characteristic color.
Being exposed to the air and oxidized, the iron contained in Onsen water turns to yellowish brown.
Shirogane-no-yu Onsen was excavated in recent years and is contrastively transparent.
Our Public Bath for Ladies offers Kogane-no-yu, Shirogane-no-yu, Open Air Onsen and Sauna.
Our Public Bath for Gentlemen likewise offers Kogane-no-yu, Shirogane-no-yu, Open Air Onsen and Sauna.
There are 3 types of additional Family Bath available at our Ryokan.

ACCESS from Tokyo
The easiest and reasonable access to Ikaho Onsen is to take a JR
Kanto bus which leaves from the JR Highway Bus Terminal near Yoyogi
Station of the JR Yamanote Line.
A restroom is available on each bus and it will take 150 minutes to reach the bus stop called "Ikaho Onsen Ishidangai" including 20 minutes break at the service area of Kannetsu Highway.
The one way bus fare is 2300 yen. With extra 500 yen you can get a seat
called “G seat” which has enough room.
